"If you thought Raising Dragons was good then you HAVE to get The Candlestone! The thing about the Dragons in our Midst series: the books keep getting better as the series progresses and Mr. Davis comes up with a whole new idea for each book. This is the kind of book that you will want to read again, and again, and again… "

"As Bonnie is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the date that she is adopted by the Foleys, the unthinkable happens. Her father shows up and tells her that her mother is alive! Bonnie follows her father, hoping to see her mother again. Her father tells her that her mother was sent into a candlestone (dragon's bane) and that her mother is trapped inside. Little does she know that an evil dragon slayer lurks very near by. Will she find her mother? Will she be able to evade her foes? I love this book and recommend it to any fantasy lover! Bonnie's strength, courage, and faith is really inspiring. I love when Billy reads what she said about him in her journal. A reader will be crying or or the edge of their seats at the climaxes, on the floor laughing at the funny things said, and be inspired."

"While most sequels disappoint, this one certainly doesn’t. It is a wonderful fantasy book, with just a tinge of science fiction, something that wasn’t in the first book, and the supernatural, something that was touched on in the first book, but expanded in The Candlestone. This book is an amazing story of faith, redemption, and love. Bonnie is the shining example of faith throughout the book, as well as love and forgiveness. Those last ideas are being shown to her father, who did not act as a father should, such as putting his child’s best interest before his own. This is an amazing book, and I recommend it to all fantasy-book lovers from age 13 and up."

"The Candelstone, the amazing sequel to Raising Dragons. This is definately a good read. Through this book I learned more about God. He never lies and will emerge victorious. This story proiveds many mysteries and the final discovery of them is pretty cool. Filled with spiritual truth, epic battles, and humor the Candelstone is a must read! "
