The French Canadian singing phenomenon Celine Dion recounts her life story in her colorful and emotional autobiography, MY STORY, MY DREAM. The youngest of 14 children, she displayed a youthful musical talent in family concerts. Recognizing her musical ability, her siblings encouraged her, eventually securing her an audition with the well-known impresario, René Angelil, who became her manager. But, as Dion recalls, their relationship later became more than strictly business, as a schoolgirl crush blossomed into a full-blown love affair. (The couple married in 1994.) Her career flourished, and regional success soon grew into national and then international fame. This was aided by her remarkable progress in speaking English, the subsequent release of her first English-language album, 1990's UNISON, and her duet with the sophisticated soul singer, Peabo Bryson, on "Beauty and the Beast," from the Walt Disney film of the same name. Dion is candid about her private life, relating her eventually successful attempts to become pregnant, and the emotional upheaval caused by the discovery that Angelil had cancer. Throughout this forthright and often poignant book, she exhibits a steadfast and moving belief in the power of love, displaying her naked emotions in true diva style.
