Desperadoes
by Ron Hansen
Review this book!
In this historical novel of the Old West and what became of it, Emmet Dalton, the head of the gang of outlaws that robbed banks and trains in Kansas and Oklahoma in the 1890s, gives us his own account of the events that led to his career as an outlaw and his eventual capture at the ill-fated Coffeyville raid, of which he was the sole survivor. We learn of the transformations of frontier society from the direction of Dalton's own later career--which included real estate development and film production in California.

Media Reviews
"There's nothing tentative about 'Desperadoes'. The writing is so accomplished and the book has such an authoritative tone that one finds it difficult to think of this as a first novel."
