Sixteen-year-old Evan Macalister, a serious slacker forever in trouble, is about to experience the most insane trip of his life when he talks his two best friends, Reuben and Erica, into a Parisian adventure involving top-secret e-mails, bioterrorism, and a cryptic man named Lubchenko. His father--who is more like a prison warden than a parent--is a high-profile doctor framed for a murder he didn't commit. Due to Evan's unfortunate sideline of thieving computer equipment from his dad's company, he holds key evidence that could clear his father. Of course, if he comes clean, he'll be in more trouble than ever, so finding the real murderer is suddenly an excellent option.

Publisher Notes
Having secretly sold his father's office equipment on the Internet for quick cash, Evan finds himself in a bad situation when his father is accused of a murder due to one of the sales, thus causing Evan to track down the real culprit via cryptic e-mails in order to clear his father's name while keeping his own thievery a secret to all. Reprint.
Media Reviews
"[Evan's] narrative voice, filled with laconic fragments and compact sentences, is relentlessly funny in its casual yet studied offhandedness...."
First Line
So this is basically a story about a murder. It's a story about a murder and the fact that the cops said my dad did it. All implausible, but still a lot of trouble for my father. But I'll get to that.
