The American fifties and sixties saw the rise of the African-American Civil Rights movement. The boycotts, marches, and civil disobedience by activists during these tempestuous decades resulted in restoring voting rights to all American citizens, outlawed racial discrimination and paved the way for the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968.
