by Theodore Roethke
Review this book!
Besides being known as one of American modernism's most important poets, Roethke (1908-1963), who was the recipient of the 1954 Pulitzer Prize, is remembered as an inspiring teacher of poetry. He joined the faculty of the University of Washington in 1946, and remained there until his death. This volume collects his prose, much of which is of a pedagogical nature, sharing his insights and passion with young writers. Carolyn Kizer, who was one of his students, introduces the selection.
