The Self. Being-Consciousness-Bliss. God. The Heart. Knowledge. These are some of the terms that Sri Ramana Maharshi (1879 - 1950) uses to refer to our natural state of existence, beyond the body and beyond thoughts. Maharshi, one of the preeminent non-dual philosophers of the last century, taught his students (he never acknowledged "followers" or "disciples," only other human beings on the same journey) to dig deep through layers of illusion and into the heart of reality through the "self-inquiry" method. Here, in a collection of lectures given over many years at his ashram in India, Maharshi explores the concept of the Self, and explains the self-inquiry method in great detail, including how and why it's done. He also expounds on meditation, yoga, reincarnation, and karma. This collection, edited by his ashram's librarian, is an invaluable resource for students on any spiritual path.
