Swimming Pool Sunday

A novel of greed and betrayal set among the landed gentry of rural England. When a young girl goes swimming at the country estate of family friends and hits her head on the diving board, rendering her comatose for life, her parents decide to sue for damages, even though it is clear that the accident was no one's fault. They are counseled by an unscrupulous lawyer that the Delanys, owner of the estate, will have their costs covered by their insurance company. But it turns out that the Delanys are not insured, and the girl's parents are faced with the dilemma of continuing a suit that they know will bankrupt their friends.
