Swing
A Mystery
by Rupert Holmes
Review this book!
Gail Prentice seeks the assistance of jazz saxophonist and musical arranger Ray Sherwood in creating an orchestration of her piano piece "Swing Around the Sun." The piece will be played at the 1940 Golden Gate World Exposition, located on an artificial island built in San Francisco Bay. Ray finds both the invitation and the composer appealing, but events take a darker turn when Ray observes the suspicious death of a French showgirl, and subsequently learns that the deceased is linked both to Gail and to an international political conspiracy. Writer/composer Rupert Holmes calls upon all his creative talents for this World War II-era illustrated mystery; the book is packaged with a CD of original music which provides tuneful clues to the storyline.
