This three-volume reference work represents three decades of research undertaken by Yad Veshem (which means "everlasting name" in Hebrew), the Israeli group which has undertaken to preserve the stories and artifacts of the Jewish culture that survived the Nazis' attempt to destroy them. With 80 international contributors and a foreword by Elie Weisel, this work includes community profiles, maps, photographs, chronologies, a glossary, and detailed indices.
