The System V Interface Definition (SVID) specifies an operating system environment that allows users to create applications software that is independent of any particular computer hardware. It specifies the source code interfaces of each operating system component, as well as the run-time behavior seen by an application program or an end user. The SVID Third Edition Volume 2 contains the following sections (all volumes contain a Master Permuted Index): Basic Utilities Extension, Advanced Utilities Extension, and Administered Systems Extension.
