Air War Korea 1950-1953 by Robert Jackson ( 1998)
When eight divisions of North Korean troops slammed through the 38th Parallel on June 25, 1950, it heralded a battle for air superiority of unprecedented scope; it also unleashed a new age of aviation fighting technology. A first generation of jet fighters from the Soviet Union shot it out with America's finest, as Migs and Sabres tussled high in the skies over Asia. Meanwhile, older piston-powered warbirds with roots in World War II duked it out in the contours of the hills below Robert Jackson captures the story of cold precision that turned 30-year-old-fighter aces from the piston age into a new breed of jet aces.

Before the Storm The Story of Bomber Command 1939-42 by Robert Jackson ( 2002)
Three bloody years of horrible battle, of a badly underequipped force fighting a superior enemy: that's what British Bomber Command endured in the early years of World War II. Every one of these tales, told by those who survived, features heroes with almost unimaginable courage and endurance. "...explains with honesty and clarity why the force had so many failures and paid so heavily for them...admirably achieved and...convincing."--The Times Literary Supplement.

Continuity of Discord Crises and Responses in the Atlantic Community by ( 1985)
An authoritative examination of the continuing crisis in the Atlantic Alliance. Since the inception of NATO many have said that it would not last. Now, after 30 years of the NATO Alliance, this book discusses whether the present discord will actually bring about the dissolution of NATO, or whether it is simply the old situation in a new disguise. This book, based on a Symposium held in September 1983, outlines the military and economic crises, looks at the various solutions and, finally, focuses on the future of the Alliance.

Meet Me in St. Louis A Trip to the 1904 World's Fair by Robert Jackson ( 2004)
You are holding a ticket to one of the largest and most magnificent celebrations of all time -- the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair!
For seven months nearly twenty million visitors from around the globe flooded the fairgrounds of Forest Park. Many explored the twelve mammoth palaces (made of plaster and horsehair!), which showcased amazing exhibits. Others enjoyed watching the first Olympic Games in the United States, keeping cool all summer with a new treat that became an instant hit -- the ice-cream cone. And everyone loved viewing all 1275acres of fairgrounds from atop the 265-foot Ferris wheel. Robert Jackson describes the planning, building, events, and memory of a fair that enthralled millions with its magic. In fascinating detail, he captures the energy and imagination of turn-of-the-century America, when fairgoers begged friends and family to meet them in St. Louis.

Mustang The Operational Record by Robert Jackson ( 1993)
The North American P-51 Mustang was one of history's most successful and effective fighter aircraft. During the last eighteen months of the war in Europe escorting American bomber formations, it hounded the Luftwaffe to destruction in the very heart of Germany. In the Pacific, operating from advance bases, it ranged over the Japanese Home Islands, bringing the Allies massive air superiority. The story of the Mustang did not end with World War Two. It performed sterling service in Korea, proving more effective in the ground attack role than the jet fighter bombers that were then entering USAF service, and in the Arab-Israeli war of 1956 it proved decisive in smashing the Egyptian forces in Sinai. Around the world, dozens of Mustangs are still flying today in the hands of racing pilots or private owners who respond to the thrill of a high-performance fighter. Yet the Mustang story began almost by accident. Produced originally to meet a Royal Air Force requirement it began life as a sketch in a London hotel room. The original Mustang I, though suffering from a poor engine, rendered excellent service with the RAF's tactical squadrons from Dieppe to D-Day. It was when the Mustang airframe was married to a Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine that the aircraft's true excellence became apparent. Possessing greater range than any other Allied single-engined fighter, it became synonymous with the Allied victory in the air. In this book Robert Jackson gives a full and dramatic account of the Mustang's amazing development and combat career - a saga that deserves pride of place in the annals of aviation history.

The Royal Navy in World War II by Robert Jackson ( 1998)
When Nazi Germany struck out from her borders in 1939, the untold force and efficiency of its land and air forces cut an unstoppable swath through mainland Europe. It was only at sea that their newfound might was tamed. Hitler's fear of the Royal Navy kept his most lethal ships hidden in bolt-holes, he was frightened to confront the British fleet in battle - an action the Kriegsmarine most probably would have won through superior ships and guns had they confronted their enemy. It was the dogged determination of British seafarers throughout the early part of the war that caused the final demise of the German big-ship fleet and left the U-boat and E-boat to fight Hitler's war at sea. This is the story of how, despite all odds, the RN helped Britain survive during the critical times of the Battle of the Atlantic, the Siege of Malta, the convoys to northern Russia and the D-Day landings. It also tells why their fully-stretched forces could not play the part they wished in the Eastern and Pacific war.
