Blank, Clair

New York: A. L. Burt Company, Pub.. 1935. HC. very good w/chipped dustjacket (hardcover) owner's inscription. Number 6 in the series. Both list in the book, and list on dustjacket list only the first 6 Beverly Gray titles. Only A. L. BURT COMPANY, Publishers on title page. This book was part of the series when the series was published by the A. L. Burt Company. When Grosset took over the series, this volume was dropped because its setting, the 1933-34 Chicago's Century of Progress Exposition dated it. Thus, this title is one of the rarest in the series. In BEVERLY GRAY AT THE WORLD'S FAIR, Beverly and her friends have graduated from college and are working in New York. Disappointed that she was not going to Paris to study with friends, Beverly and her remaining friends plan a month vacation at the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago where they witness a murder when a diver is killed by an air gun at the fair. Bedford, MA: American Web Books. 2003. HC. fine w/fine dustjacket (hardcover) in original shrinkwrap. First printing (of a limited reprint of 100 copies) of one of the rarest of children's series titles. First published in 1935 by the A. L. Burt Company, the series was later taken over by Grosset & Dunlap which did not include this title in their reprints because it was dated with the plot having taken place at the 1933 to 1934 Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago. Beverly and her friends witness a murder at the fair, and in true fashion help to solve the murder. The first printing of this reprint is destined to become a collector's item. . 250pp

BEVERLY GRAY AT THE WORLD'S FAIR - THE BEVERLY GRAY COLLEGE MYSTERY SERIES

New York: A. L. Burt Company Publishes. 1935. HC. good, gray cloth (no dustjacket) EDGEWEAR, CORNERS BUMPED. This copy lacks the dustjacket. Corners are worn as is cloth around the top and bottom of the spine. Spine is discolored a tad, probably from exposure to air. I believe this copy may have been a lending library copy since there are remnants of a bookplate on the front pastedown, and the top of a date slip on the front-free endpaper. BUT a solid copy to fill that hole in your collection . 250pp
