Kickstart an independent bookstore into a new location!
Back in 2007, we published an article about a St. Louis bookstore called “The Book House” – a lovely Victorian era mansion that is haunted by three different ghosts. The proprietors of the Book House, the Barron family, have been helping customers track down long-lost books since they opened doors in 1986, and they have also donated a portion of their profits to various charities, including Second Chapter, a group/foster home for disabled children.
Unfortunately, this spring, the Barrons lost their much loved bookshop location as the landowners sold the property and the beautiful house was slated to be destroyed.
Book House has found a new location in nearby Maplewood, Missouri, but the renovation costs on their new space have continued to rise and rise.
This is where you come in!
The Book House is asking for your help. The ABA and IOBA associated bookshop has already reached over half of their $10K goal on Kickstarter, thanks to some attention from Reddit /r/books fans. If you contribute, you can earn rewards such as a personalized out-of-print book search, a Book House T-shirt or postcard, signed rare books, or even a used book grab bag!
You can also help by sending them some sales:
