The Scotsman, an ardent sportsman, spent five years, from 1832 to 1837, in the wilds between the Mississippi and the Pacific. The journal of his adventures among, and residence with the Indians, was, together with his verbal narrations, edited by his American friend, and these two volumes are the product. Indian life, character, and legends form the staple of their composition." Graff 3986. Howes S991. Wagner-Camp-Becker 125. Sabin 91392. Phillips Sporting Books p.360.Reese Best of the West 250: 96
