The Anarchist Cookbook, first published in 1971, is a book that contains recipes and instructions for the manufacture of explosives, rudimentary telecommunications phreaking devices and other dangerous and illegal items, some with merit and some dangerous if even attempted. It was written by William Powell to protest the United States involvement in the Vietnam War. Interest in the book continues, in 2009 the magazine Vice published a brief history of the book as well as excerpted recipes. The magazine's sister network, VBS. tv, also broadcast a documentary on the subject.
