Both octavo, 9 1/4" tall; vol. 1: very good over all--ex-library with marking to the spine and endpapers, with original blind-stamped blue-gray cloth worn at the corners, frontispiece and second engraved title page + foldout map + 464 + 11 engraved pates with tissue guards--intertextual wood cut engraving scattered throughout, paper clean and relatively white with minor occasional foxing, binding solid; vol. 2: in good condition over all, frontispiece and engraved title page + 467 pages + 7 engraved plates + fold out map torn but complete plus single page map, intertextual wood cut engraving scattered throughout, gilt spine titles on original embossed brown cloth which is heavily worn and back strip split and torn at hinge, binding shaken, generally clean, paper moderately yellowed with light scattered foxing throughout. A great set of a key arctic title.
