RITES has two small indentations on the front pastedown upper corner with two corresponding impressions on the dustjacket flap and a small rubbed spot on the topedge which has caused a tiny nick on the topedge of a few text pages; the book is in Near Fine condition in a Near Fine dustjacket with an archival cover. CLOSE AND FIRE are both in Fine condition in a Fine dustajcket with an archival cover. RITES was the Booker winner in 1980. Housed in a blue vellum chemise which is lettered in gilt, reproducing the exact lettering, even using the same typeface, as the printed front cover. This is then housed in a quarter green morocco slip case with raised bands and gilt rules and lettering to the spine. Printed at the Trigram Press, London, in four colours. 8pp, plus colour printed laminated card covers, designed by Paul Vaughan, and frosted paper wraps with the title printed in blue to the front. The whole booklet is held together with the original white metal clasp spine. First page with a Buckminster Fuller design, printed in bright yellow and with red lettering, the other pages printed in blue and showing detailed diagrams of four of his invented construction ideas. A sharp and bright copy of this rare edition.

My Sister Life was written in the summer before the 1917 October Revolution, it was very well received and established him as a genius of Russian poetry. The English translation was done by Mark Rudman. The acclaimed Russian born artist, Yuro Kuyper provides 6 etchings for the publication, printed on Hannemule paper in Paris. The paper used for the text was hand-made by H. M. P. Mill in Connecticut to resemble the sort of stock produced in 1920's Russia, even incorporating bits of Russain newspapers with rags and cotton pulp. The book is in near fine condition, with the only defect being some sunning to the spinea. The slipcase in VG or better, showing some sunning. The book is signed by Yuri Kuyper and this copy is #212 of 250. The original LEC invoice for $4000 laid in; Etching; Folio 13" - 23" tall; Signed by Illustrator .

A symbolically complex novel whose parallel narratives deal with intertwined themes of (bureaucratic) order and (natural) chaos on an alien world dominated by a seemingly endless forest. In an essay included as afterword to the 2018 translation published by University of Chicago Press, Boris Strugatsky acknowledged this as the brothers' "most complete and important work."
