First edition, second binding, of Pound's first major volume of criticism. This is an interesting association copy, with the ownership signature of Schuyler B. Jackson, dated "15/8/21." A total of 1250 sets of sheets were printed, of which three hundred sets were used for the American issue, and an unspecified number of copies were bound up in this slightly later binding. However, this edition was criticized and condemned by later printers for:
· Adopting a frivolous style, rather than a more serious and ironic tone
· Turning Don Quixote and Sancho Panza into buffoons
· Casting the work in a "Franco-Cockney" rather than Spanish culture
This 1822 edition was published in Edinburgh, printed in five volumes, and includes a 'life of Cervantes' by J.G. Lockhart – the first edition to feature Lockhart's essay.

'The Mysteries of Paris' is a classic French novel by Eugene Sue, published in the mid-19th-century. In many ways, 'Mysteries of Paris' was a landmark work as well as being controversial. Sue was one of the first French authors to fuse characters from different social classes making this work popular amongst all readers, not just upper or lower classes.

However, this work, which follows the mysterious life of a German Duke, is one of the most famous 'anti-Catholic' novels. Along with 'The Wandering Jew', this book depicted various aspects of underclass society and helped establish the 'city mysteries' literary genre. This 1845 English first edition features nearly 700 illustrations throughout!
