Garland's Middle Border books are autobiographical beginning with his upbringing on a farm in the Midwest. He won the Pulitzer Prize for "Daughter." Four volumes will require extra postage.

Illustrated throughout with woodcut-style sketches and headpieces by Constance Garland. A book of literary reminiscences. This is the 4th and concluding book in a series about the Garlands moves West in the 19th Century. This book tells the story of his family's return to the East, and discusses important literary persons of the day. Notes * Garland was a distinguished middle-western writer, recipient of both the Pulitzer Prize and membership in the American Academy. This book was preceded by the 1926 "Trail-Makers of the Middle Border," the 1922 Pulitzer Prize winning "A Daughter of the Middle Border" and the 1917 "A Son of the Middle Border."
