New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1929. First Edition (after an edition of 128 signed and numbered copies in slipcase). "First Edition I-D" on copyright page. Contains Cullen's longest poem "The Black Christ" and about 45 other, shorter poems. Decorations by Charles Cullen. 110 numbered pps. Previous owner's gift inscription on front pastedown, mostly hidden from view by dj flap. Paper on boards in surprisingly nice condition - only gently rubbed. Paper/foil title labels more heavily rubbed, especially on spine. Very tightly bound. Dust jacket, now protected in archival plastic, has edgewear and light fading to spine. The edgewear consists of four small closed tears and a few tiny chips; the wear is heaviest at spine head. Original price remains on flap. A desirable copy of an important Harlem Renaissance work.. First Edition. Cloth and Paper. Very Good +/Very Good-. Illus. by Charles Cullen. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
