The Blue - Green - Red - Yellow Fairy Book (Complete set of four books) by Andrew Lang - n.d.

A very nice set of the A.L. Burt reprint of the English first editions that were published from 1889 to 1994. These are the less expensive reprints that came out around 1900. Apparently Burt issued some earlier copies from English sheets with tipped in title pages and a different, fancier binding that are more expensive and rare. My books are decorated the same but in different colors with a large gilt fairy on front cover, holding a wand with a star at its top, within a gilt border; gilt figure of a youth in medieval costume on spine, with gilt lettering and border. No dates in any of the books. but two have catelogues at the back giving Burt's address at the time of publication. Blue being the earliest (1896-1900) and Yellow being the latest (1900-1912). Red and Green do not have catelogues and may have been issued in between the others. All show a little wear at top and bottom spines and corners. Both Red's hinges are cracked, Yellow's rear is starting, the rest are OK but a little loose, o/w this is a very, clean unmarked set of the four Fairy Books published by A.L. Burt that came from the same original estate.
