A biography of one of the most famous of early British travellers in Central Asia. Sir Alexander Burnes (1805-1841), often known as 'Bokhara Burnes' for his daring journey to Bokhara in 1832 and his subsequent book about it.. General James Doiran Lunt (1917-2001) led a fairly adventurous life himself serving in the Queen's Royal Lancers and with Glubb Pasha in the Arab Legion.
