London: Macmillan, 1934 1st ed, G+. In full dark green morocco, a little worn and bumped to corners and edges, title to paper label, faint crease mark to lower half top cover. Spine, worn and bumped at edges, titles and image in gilt. Internally, marbled endpapers, no inscriptions, t.e.g., half title present, title page with vignette, [6], 278 pp, 113 illustrations (11 are full page), by GL Stampa, 9 short stories and 5 verses, all about dogs, 11300 copies printed, this is the full dark green morocco variant binding. (Ricghards A421. Livingston 602.Stewart 618). Kipling, (Joseph) Rudyard, writer and poet, who always liked to give speech to the speechless, and who had always been a dog-lover, combined these inclinations in a series of stories collected as Thy Servant a Dog, Told by Boots (1930) See ODNB for a full Bio.
