Washington (DC): US Coast Survey, 1866. Very good, b&w, folds as issued, few foxed spots, one or two separations at folds (no images loss). These are from the 1864 Report of the Superintendent of the Coast Survey, published in 1866. The three sheets are: 1. lower sheet--San Francisco to San Diego...1853 corrected to 1864 (16 small coastal views including entrance to San Francisco Bay/Alcatraz, Moro Rock, Catalina Harbor and more) 2. middle sheet--From San Francisco t Umpquah River...1854 corrected to 1864 (12 coastal views including entrance to San Francisco Bay, Cape Mendocino, and more) 3. northern sheet--From Umpquah River to the Boundary (8 views, including entrance to Columbia River). The lower sheet image is 55 x 56 cm (21.5 x 22 inches); the other two images are 62 x 54 cm (24.5 x 21.25 inches). Details "By the Hydrographic Party under the Command of Lieut. James Alden...Geographical Positions by G. Davidson..." Scale 1:200,00. An uncommon complete set in this condition. Elaborate sailing directions. Ref: Guthorn, United States Coastal Charts, pp 200-203 (partial reference to a portion of an earlier set). .
