Garden City: Doubleday & Company, 1948. Limited ed. Hardcover. Very Good. No slipcase, book in Mylar. Copy # 830 of 1426. Signed by General Eisenhower at the bottom of a pasted in copy of his D-day order. On the eve of "The Longest Day" he penned: "You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you....... Good Luck And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and nobles undertaking." Also, apparently he wrote a letter of resignation " Our landings in the Cherbourg Harve area have failed to gain a satisfactory foothold and I have withdrawn the troops, if any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone" which is fortunately not included. Does include miniature of 1st inaugural address by The Chiswick Press (see photo) .
