As the bride of Alexis Lubchenco, she was the doctor to Moscow school children, escaped from the Russian Revolution, and worked as a family physician in the American South and West.

Green cloth covered hard cover boards with gilt lettering to front cover and spine. Book square and bright, binding tight. Age toning to pages, minor edge wear to head and tail of spine.
Signed by the author and subject on the title page.
DJ is age toed has chipping on margin edges and head and tail of spine. Closed tear tp tail of spine and open tear to head of spine. Sticker removal large scratch on back cover.
A wonderfully intimate and human story of Dr. Portia Lubchenco who was, in the early part of the 20th century, a doctor to school children in Moscow, a later to Turkestan's veiled women. She escaped from the Russian Revolution and became a physician in the changing South and West of the United States.
