About This Item

Various: Various, 1968. First Editions . Various Wraps. Very Good Plus. Various. Wagner, D.R. And Others. A somewhat stunning collection, which, taken in all its parts, is both a free-form long-span biographical sketch of the accomplished poet, artist and musician D.R. Wagner, and a moving testimony to the closeness of his relationship with fellow counterculture poet B.L. "Bari" Kennedy [see separate listing of original manuscript poems by Kennedy]. (1) CHAPBOOKS: Various locations, dates and publishers; lot of poetry chapbooks inscribed to Bari Kennedy. Included: Cruisin' at the Limit [Duck Down, Fallon NV, 1982]. Signed and inscribed to Bari Kennedy; VG+. The Union Camp Papers [Twowindows Press, San Francisco, 1968. Edition of 420 copies]. Signed and inscribed to Bari Kennedy and flat signed at the title page; near fine. Round, Earth, Poems. [Gunrunner Press, Milwaukee, no date. Edition of 300 copies]. Signed and inscribed to Bari Kennedy; near fine. 100 Aspects of the Moon [Runcible Spoon, Sacramento, CA, 1995. Edition of 500 copies.] Signed and inscribed to Bari Kennedy and also flat signed at the title page; near fine. April 15 April 16 [press:today:niagara, Niagara Falls, NY, 1966. Edition of 200 copies.] Signed and inscribed to Bari Kennedy; very good. The Lost Carnival & other places [Molly Moon Press, Death Crater, Ca, 1969. Edition of 500 copies.] Not signed; near fine. (2) ALSO: Seven photocopies of poems on sheets of paper, 6 of them 8x11½, the other 11x17 & folded in half twice. Several of them inscribed and signed by Wagner to B.L. "Bari" Kennedy. Includes: Coming to Our Senses Again (1991, inscribed); Cleveland Gate Illumination (1960, with poems at verso by Kent Taylor); Winter Light (1991, with one small hand correction); and the following stapled together at the top corner: Blood (undated, inscribed, and with a name, address, and markings in wax pencil and colored marker to verso); So It Turns Out That We Were Dreaming (1990, briefly inscribed but unsigned); The Little Room (1991); Poets Under Oath (1991); and Tasting the Dirt (inscribed and dated 1991). Condition: Some creases, folds, and edgewear; "Cleveland Gate" chipped at corners and toned at edges; very good to better than very good. (3) ALSO: Several Wagner ephemera items relating to Wagner and/or Kennedy. Included are 2 copies of Freethough, a free poetry tabloid with a poem by Wagner (Summer 1993, newsprint); "An Electricity of Purpose", an article on miniature tapestries by Wagner clipped from an issue of Needle Arts magazine (Sept. 1988, 5 pp. with color photographs); photocopy of "The Fulfillment of Prophecy," part of the poet's final project to receive a MFA at John F. Kennedy University (March 1992, 23 pp.); a flyer for a gallery show titled "Sculptural Furnishing," with Wagner as an exhibitor; another gallery flyer listing Wagner as contributor; a photocopy of a letter of recommendation from Wagner for fellow poet and friend Bari Kennedy; a photocopy of Wagner's promotional resume (8 pp.0; and a color crayon illustration of a weird looking hippie, possibly by Wagner, possibly portraying B.L. Kennedy. Condition: Some edgewear, some writing to verso of one page of resume; better than very good to near fine. Inscriptions to Bari Kennedy, throughout, are fairly long, artful and quite warm; this was clearly a close relationship. Wagner's resume in poetry, art, music and arts education is immense and very long-term; Kennedy's colorful history is lightly outlined under the separate listing for a notebook of his manuscript poems.
