A paper presented by the author at the 13th Annual Near East Conference: Current Problems in Afghanistan at Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, on 15 December 1960. W.H. Griffin, was then Professor of Education and Coordinator of ICA Overseas Projects at Teachers College, Columbia University. The paper gives a brief historical backgrround of education in Afghanistan but dwells mainly on education as it was at the end of the 1950s, It was distributed to participants of the Conference of which the present owner was one..
