Eucharistic Prayers of the Roman Rite, The by Mazza, Enrico - 1986

This book is a historical and theological commentary on the Eucharistic Prayers in use in the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church. These are the Roman Canon, three other prayers from the 1970 missal, the three prayers for Children's Masses, the two prayers for reconciliation, and the "Swiss Synod" Anaphora. In the United States, the latter Eucharistic Prayer is presented as four separate prayers.

The author, Father Enrico Mazza, has provided an introductory chapter, explaining his method, and a concluding chapter, providing some theology for the Eucharistic Prayer. There is also an excellent introduction by the late Msgr. Fred McManus. This thorough, scholarly, book also provides notes, bibliography, and index. It was translated from the 1984 Italian original.
