Two documents from the Second Vatican Council are still influential today, on the topics of evangelization and religious freedom. In this book, the authors review the development and content of these documents, as well as their continuing influence. Over the last 40 years, Catholics have changed dramatically, in both areas of life. In pluralist societies, Catholics now operate within a new theoretical context and within new standards of behavior.

This book is in the Paulist series, "Rediscovering Vatican II." This series studies the key documents of that council and provides a contemporary context in which to interpret them. The series also considers directions for further development in thought and attitude.
