Good +/No jacket. 686 pages with index, illustrated with portrait frontispiece with facsimile signature of author and numerous photographs and drawings. A travel writer tackles the immense job of treating the entire continent of Africa in one volume. Brown cloth binding with gilt titles and border on front cover and gilt titles on spine, illustrated end papers. Gilt on front cover bright, light edge wear, a little bumping of corners and spine ends, spine a little faded with light wrinkles and minor creases, back cover a little scrubbed and stained, gift inscription on half-title, interior pages bright, binding tight.
