First Printing; B&W Illustrations; 224 pages; Fascinating autobiograpy of a vetinary surgeon who practiced in both war and peace contrasting the two forms of his professional life. Begininning with his time at The Kings School, Canterbury and then on to the Royal Veterinary College. Whilst there he joined the Honourable Artillery Company, when war broke out in 1914 he wasn't imediately sent to the front, but first joined the 11th Reserve Cavalry Regiment at Tidworth Barracks in Hampshire. His time to go to the Front came however in August 1915, and for the next three years he would be looking after the horses that pulled the wagons and guns. Following the war he took over his father's vetinary practice in Uxbridge. .
