Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1939. First Edition, First Printing, with 1939 listed on the title page, and no subsequent printings mentioned on the copyright page. Though price-clipped, the dust jacket is identifiable as a first issue jacket, bearing an ad for Choo-Choo on the rear flap, and a yellow spine that just has the book title followed by an abbreviation for the publisher, "H.M. CO", with no mention of the author's name. In Very Good condition. Clean text. Pages show light signs of handle, and are lightly age toned, with light rubbing to a few. Front paste down has a small blue smudge. The binding is holding but lightly pulled with light splitting starting at the front. The boards show light wear, with light rubbing to the stamping. The dust jacket shows edge wear, with rubbing and short tears starting at the folds. The spine of the dust jacket has been reinforced from the verso. A Caldecott Medal winner, wonderfully rare in the original dust jacket.

London: printed for J. Johnson, No. 72, St. Paul's Church-Yard, 1791. Second Edition. Vellum. Fine. First Edition illustrated by William Blake (and first to carry Wollstonecraft's name on title page) of this didactic collection of stories for children. 12mo: viii,[4],177,[3,advertisements]pp, with six full-page copper-engraved plates (including frontispiece) designed and engraved by William Blake. No half-title, as issued. According to Easson & Essick, there are two states of the plates, but only a few copies have the first state; some are a mixture. Windle, however, has identified a third state and notes that Bentley believes the plates were optional in both the 1791 and 1796 editions. A superb copy, newly rebound by Fitterer in full vellum with salmon pink morocco lettering piece gilt. Light offsetting from plates, very minor foxing, else clean and bright in a very pretty pristine binding. Bentley 421A. Bibliotheca Bibliographici 596. Windle A3b.
