Clean, sound, without markings. Stated 'First Edition' on copyright page with this number string: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3, meaning 3rd printing of First Edition. Affixed to front panel of jacket is silver emblem stating, 'Nominee for the 'Edgar' Allan Poe Award for Best Mystery Novel of 1985.' This was Auster's first novel published under his own name, after Squeeze Play (Avon, 1984) published under the pseudonym Paul Benjamin.
