In this distinctive map by Richard Edes Harrison, we get a bird's eye view from space with Siberia, Manchuria, Korea and China in the foreground looking to Sakhalin, Japan and the Ryukyu Islands, with the curve of the globe in the furthest distance. Color is used to give a 3-D effect to the landscape, with the lowlands in green and mountains in tones of yellow and brown. Harrison's maps were instrumental in making the American public view the world in a new way, reflecting the realities of the "aviation age".
