Description:
New London, CT: Wm. Bolles & Co, 1850. Hardcover. Miniature (2" X 1.75"). Full calf, gilt spine lettering. 192pp. Frontispiece woodcut, woodcut illustrations. Very good. Mild bit of edgewear; some slightly irregular and closely trimmed pages. Tight, lovely copy of this American Tom Thumb Bible, a popular category of miniature book in the early 19th century. This is a later printing of the edition that W. & J. Bolles first brought out around 1831. The woodcut illustrations are charmingly primitive. Original leather binding is in exceptionally sharp, handsome condition, with spine lettering bright.

Description:
Germantown, PA: Michael Billmeyer, 1795. Hardcover. 16mo. Original full calf with both metal clasps present and fully functional. 537pp, (5pp). Front and rear flyleaves are fairly modern crude replacements; text block moderately age toned throughout, with mild occasional foxing. A tight and attractive second printing of this noted "New Testament" issue from the press of the well-known Philadelphia printer (1752-1837); the printing office and home in which this was printed still stands today; it was built in 1730, purchased by Billmeyer in 1789 and is supposedly the site from which George Washington directed his Continental Army forces in the Battle of Germantown. When Billmeyer and his father-in-law set up their Lutheran press in the 1780s, they acquired the surviving equipment of the renowned Philadelphia printer Christopher Saur Jr., whose press the British had destroyed in 1777. The two small leather straps on this copy are old but not original, but all the brass clasp parts are present and… Read More

'The Whole Duty of Man' is a Protestant devotional work written by Richard Allestree who prescribes various devotional exercises for a healthy Christian life. According to Bickersteth,
"'The Whole Duty of Man' was a practical book to counteract the Antinomians and contains an impressive introduction on the care of the soul, the devotional part is full and useful, and it has a good statement of relative duties, but it does not exhibit prominently the only principles and strength on which man can perform them." Description:
1880 Charles Spurgeon Saint & His Saviour Puritan Baptist Bible Devotional
A highly rare printing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon's 'The Saint and His Saviour.' In this work Spurgeon walks the reader through the process and stages of belief in Jesus and the subsequent growth experienced with following Jesus according to the teachings of the Bible. He describes the role and aid of the Holy Spirit along with the purpose in facing and overcoming trials throughout life. The primary theme of the book is salvation by and deep love for Jesus. A classic Christian devotional work.
Often referred to as the "Prince of Preachers," Charles H. Spurgeon displayed unique talent as an orator and was equally respected as a gifted teacher of the Bible. His coveted sermons and published works are still used today in Biblical research, study, and personal meditation.
