Hardcover - as published. 4to (12.5 x 9"), viii, 494 + 484 pp, 48 plates including 8 in color, and the remainder in grey/blue, ochre and black, profusely illustrated throughout text itself with black & white drawings; table of contents in v.1 and index in v.2, marbled paper endpapers; text block edge-browned throughout, one leaf with 2" tear not affecting text, private bookplate in each volume, front inner hinges broken, joints worn & starting, boards edge-worn, paper boards bit scuffed with small pieces missing, gilt decorated spines bright. internally clean & unmarked; overall a good set of a scarce item. .
