Publisher's pictorial and paper boards, except for PENULTIMATE PERIL (plain boards, pictorial dust jacket) and ... AUTOBIOGRAPHY (glazed pictorial boards, dust jacket). Illustrated throughout by Brett Helquist. Volume 6 is priced $8.95. New York: Random House. NF/VG+. 1948. 1st Edition. Hardcover; 1st Printing. 1st edition/1st printing. Stated First Printing of this author's first book, and signed by the Truman Capote on the half-title page (just his name; no inscription). This book is bound in beige cloth with unfaded red lettering on the spine. It is very clean, without handwriting or markings other than the author's signature, and very firmly bound. It has some slight shelfwear to the cloth at the very edges of the spine ends, and the lower front corner is lightly bumped. The dustjacket is clean, crisp and price intact ($2.75). It has some light edge wear, 2 completely closed short edge tears, a few small surface rubs, and the spine is very slightly darkened, extending onto a small area of Capote's shirt sleeve nearest the spine (otherwise his picture on the back panel is fine). Altogether a very handsome example of this scarce book and its dustjacket, and particularly scarce signed. ; Signed by Author .
