London: Macmillan and Co., Ltd, 1896. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 24mo - over 5 - 5¾" tall. Blue / green blind stamped cloth with gilt motif and Tennyson initials on the front boards and gilt titles to the spine. 23 uniform small pocket-sized volumes - The People's Edition. Foredges deckled / untrimmed and most volumes have uncut pages and appear barely read. Some very light occasional foxing spots to endpapers / pastedowns. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. All volumes are in very good, firm and clean condition but a few of the volumes have small marks to the spines (see photos). The volumes all match as to condition so it looks as though this set was supplied incorrectly by the publisher when it was new (all those years ago). The volumes are: Idylls of the King I-V; Idylls of the King VI [2 COPIES]; The Princess I; The Princess II; Rizpah; The Death of Oenone; A Dream of Fair Women; Demeter; The Lady of Shalott; The Spinster's Sweet-arts; Locksley Hall; In Memoriam; The Brook; Maid; The Voyage of Madeldune; Enoch Arden; Juvenilia; Will Waterproof. The MISSING volume is The Lover's Tale. The original box is in matching cloth and is worn, with marks, rubs, bubbling to the back, some marks inside but it is reasonably sturdy and has kept the books in nice condition. Box measures 16 x 26.5 x 11.5cm.
