London: J. J. Chidley, 1844. First of this edition. Includes PARADISE LOST, PARADISE REGAINED, Sonnets, Odes, et al. Engraved frontis portrait of Milton. In unsigned binding of three-quarter black leather over blue pebbled cloth boards with six gilt-ruled spine panels, one with gilt-lettered blue-leather label ("Milton"); marbled endpapers and all edges marbled. Few spots of foxing to prelims and fading inscription to head of title page but otherwise text pages are clean and bright. Four engravings with tissue guards; and two engravings lacking tissues that have cast shadows on opposing text pages, otherwise very good to fine.
