New York: Robert M. McBride & Company, 1921. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall. Type: Hardback Fourth Printing, 1921. Hardcover Book in Good Condition. Brown cloth binding with gilt debossed sketch of a horse on the lower front corner, gilt lettering on spine is rubbed and difficult to see. Boards are rubbed along edges and down hinge. Spine head cloth has a tear at each corner. The binding is quite clean and unmarked. Sewn binding is tight and solid. Rough cut on fore edge and lower edge. Prev owner names on front endpaper. Pages are very clean and unmarked, no tears, no creasing, evenly toned. James Branch Cabell (1879- 1958) was an American author of fantasy fiction. Although escapist literature, his works are ironic and satirical. All of Cabell's works before 1930 were assembled into the grand "Biography of the Life of Manuel", the redeemer of the imaginary land of Poictesme. These are tales of Poictesme where chilvary and gallantry are alive and well; the series follows Manuel and his descendents. 368 pages. 5.25 x 8 inches. Robert M McBride Publishers, New York, 1921.
