Scranton, PA: Self Published, Lackawanna Historical Society, 1928. Very good plus copy of this scarce first edition, published 1928. Tan stapled wraps and text are bright, minimal age toning. 32 pp. The date Feb 11 1929 is stamped on the upper right corner front cover, upper left corner back cover and upper left corner of page 32. On the back cover Withdrawn from MBNEH is stamped in small letters. The title page has the blind stamp of the N. E. Historic Genealogical Society. Inside back cover there is a small certificate noting in nice black ink handwriting that the book was given to the New England Historic Genealogical Society by the Lackawanna Historical Society, Scranton PA, hand dated Feb 11, 1929. On the index page two incorrectly published words are crossed out and on page 30 someone (presumably the author) corrected a date in pencil from 1819 to 1919. The booklet contains extensive information about the Lackawanna Historical Society, well researched narrative of the history of Lackawanna County, a long poem titled The Vale of Lackawanna, another long poem titled The Roaring Brook and extensive biographies of the first four presidents of the Lackawanna Historical Society. This is a very nice association copy involving the Lackawanna Historical Society and New England Historic Genealogical Society. In 1930 this booklet was compiled into a book with other articles. We specialize in books about Scranton and the surrounding area.. First Edition. Wraps. Very Good Plus.
