First printing, with (1) on last page of text. Novel based on the authors World War I experiences flying for the Royal Air Force. Curtis (1890-1957) joined the Royal Air Force in 1917, flying a Sopwith Camel in the American 148th Aero Squadron. He was shot down over Bapaume and captured by the Germans, and was in prison camps until the Armistice. After the war, he mainly wrote juvenile fiction. No marks in book, binding tight. Light soiling edges of text block, spine lettering rubbed. Book condition VG, lacking the dust jacket.
