Toronto: W.S. Johnston & Co'y Printers, 1910. Book. Fair. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 255 pages. Three maps. Reproductions of black and white photos in text. Author was Captain of the 43rd Battalion, Ottawa and Carleton Rifles, and personally witnessed raids on the Niagara frontier in 1866 and 1870. "I have endeavored to fully cover the subject, and put on record the splendid service which our gallant vounteers rendered to their country." - from Preface. Gilt lettering and adornment upon front board. Contents toned with age. Binding shaken but intact aside from narrow opening at page 255. Somewhat above-average external wear with white discolouration to bottom corner of back board. A worthy vintage copy..
