The Quest for the Prize

by Keith Dyne

"I have now read this book twice, and definitely found it a very enthralling read, which has sucked me into trying to solve the challenge the author set for us. The characters are believable with very good dialogue in places, and the whole mystery around the prize, what it is, and where it is hidden, has certainly captured my imagination. Jerry and his two colleagues have embarked on a quest to find an ancient and well-hidden prize. We do not know what the prize is (although there are apparently clues hidden in the story) and we do not know where it is hidden. Five clues (verses) have been found by Jerry and solved, yet they led to what we are told is not the prize. So here lies the quandary: some of the clues (maybe all) are incorrectly solved. We can (if we want to, and there is by no means and requirement to actually do so) try and solve the clues correctly to find out where the prize is actually hidden. So the Quest for the Prize is a sort of whodunit, but with a neat twist. It is really a treasure hunt around England, but one where you do not need any degree in history or religious studies to be able to take part. All of the clues are out in the open, and only by solving them all correctly can the pathway to the prize be revealed. I can imagine that there are many people out there now who are trying to unravel this mystery. I am certainly one of them. Jenny"

"At times I could not put this book down; it was very exciting in places and the whole thing about solving these clues was fascinating. I even checked myself on the internet and got some of them, but not all. And then to get to the end and find out, well I won't spoil it for you, but lets just say that it has still got me guessing, and looking through the web for some chatroom to discuss with others.... /JennyH (again, since my first post seems not to have been saved)."

"I really enjoyed reading this book, and following the trio on their quest to solve the clues and to recover the prize. The story had me at times in fits of laughter as I could quite relate to some of the taunts and jibes - especially being blonde myself, and at other times I was just as stumped as the heroes in the book when faced with those verses to solve - and I really would like to know where he found that one about the rabbits... The book is very cleverly written, and I even tracked down some of the clues myself on the internet. I really look forward to book two, when the correct answers to the clues will be finally known, but until then I will take the oportunity to log into a chat room somewhere and discuss the possible solutions with other fellow 'questers'....
