THE PUTZLITZ DOSSIER by ZU PUTZLITZ, WOLFGANG
First Edition
London: Allan Wingate., 1957. pp; [vi], 252. Bound in blue cloth, titled in gilt to the spine. The autobiography of a German diplomat who became totally disenchanted with the Nazis and defected to England at the beginning of the war, where he worked for British Intelligence. After the war he moved back to East Germany. With that in mind it is interesting to note that one of the people who extended him much kindness and assistance during his sojourn in England was fellow member of British Intelligence Anthony Blunt a long-time spy for the Communists, along with Philby, Burgess and MacLean . Blunt was also ' talent-spotter' of likely recruits for Burgess. Did Blunt recruit Putzlitz? Or maybe he went back to East Germany as a British double agent. The book, naturally, tells you nothing....but it would be nice to find out.. First Edition. Cloth, Gilt Lettering.. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo. Biography..
