GUERRE DU CANADA 1756 1760; MONTCALM ET LEVIS by CASGRAIN , L'ABBE H.R
First Thus
Tours, France.: Alfred Meme et Fils., 1898. pp: 392. Illustrated throughout with engravings ,some full-page, maps.Text in French. Ex-library Trinity College, Toronto, consequently a little more circumspect with their stamps and labels. Bound in maroon pebbled cloth and what was half leather. Obviously the spine suffered and it has been competantly rebacked ( probably by the library) with library cloth and re-titled with white ink; the marbled endpapers have also been re-inforced with white tape. Not too pretty but very sturdy . The leather to the corners is worn though on the edges. The fore- and bottom edges of the text block are untrimmed. Whilst the majority of illustrations are engravings, there are a few photographs of ruins and monuments. It is hard to read the signature to the frontispiece but it may ( repeat may) be by Mucha. If my French is correct this work was originally published in 1891 in two volumes, by Demers & Frere, Quebec. A scarce book in any condition. First Thus. Half Leather. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. Tall 4to.. Ex-Library. Canada, History, Military, Quebec..
