Book description: Baltimore: Schaeffer and Maund, 1817 Complete in two volumes, each being a first edition, volume one was published in Baltimore by Schaeffer and Maund in 1817, volume two was published in York Pa. by Henry C. Neinstedt in 1821, 265 pages plus contents page and with two folding plates, 417 pages plus Errata, both volumes show some foxing, early owner's name in ink top corner title page volume one, closed tear bottom outer corner page 99-100 volume one, stamped ink "Lutheran Historical Society" top corner title page volume two, old Gettysburg Theological Seminary bookplate inside front cover volume one as well as some early ink writing and much later (after Seminary ownership) owner's stamp on same inside front cover, hinges cracked, edges worn, text blocks clean tight and square, blank front end page of volume two had been glued to 1827 FRAKTUR BOOKPLATE inside front cover in an early attempt to hide previous ownership, this page was removed with some damage to bookplate and total loss of the blank front endpage, however the bookplate survives nearly completely but with some loss (see image), name on bookplate is Jacob Becke, dated 1827, Hopewell Township, York County, Pennsylvania.. First Edition. Full-Leather. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
