Red hardcover with gilt lettering and design of a witch's hat on spine; rather soft absorbent paper over boards shows mild soiling, wear to edges and extremities. Light library markings limited to inkstamp on front endpaper and pocket inside back cover. Pages are clean, binding secure although opens a bit too far at certain points to be called strictly "tight". Spine is square. Quite a nice reading copy between shabby covers. The first of the Carbonel books introduces the feline prince, Rosemary who begins his release from enchantment by purchasing him from a witch for three Queen Victoria farthings, and John who helps them in their adventures. . 6th Printing.
